In a case of total commercialisation of the medical profession, doctors, considered gods-in-white coats, on Sunday allegedly threw out a patient mercilessly for expressing his inability to pay the fee in cash. Â
It allegedly happened at a private hospital in Kamareddy. The patient, who approached the hospital after he suffered an injury in an accident, was admitted after he paid Rs 300 initially. After the doctors put sutures to close the wound, the hospital management demanded that the patient pay Rs 1000.
When the patient expressed an inability to pay fees in cash, the hospital management argued with him. He pleaded with the hospital authorities to accept the payment of the fees through a credit card. However, the hospital authorities refused to accept the digital payment. Â
The hospital authorities also threw him out and his friends who admitted him to the hospital asked the patient if they wanted to pay the fees in cash. The nursing staff even removed the sutures before throwing out the patient from the hospital.
He paid the consultation fees of the doctor of Rs 300. Later, the hospital personnel sutured his injuries and gave him a bill for Rs 1000 towards the cost of the treatment. The patient, who identified himself as Srinivas, said the hospital staff behaved rudely with him. Sreenu and his friends staged a protest in front of the hospital. But the doctors did not relent. Â Later, the patient approached the Government Hospital here and the doctors there put sutures on the wound and prescribed medicine.
