The process to fill 80,000 vacancies in the State is progressing at a brisk pace, said Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Monday.
Speaking at a meeting here, shortly after handing over the appointment orders to 72 panchayat secretaries whose services were regularised, the Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had upgraded thandas as panchayats and ensured that secretaries were appointed in the new panchayats. It led to the filling of 10,000 vacancies.
The Telangana State with 3 per cent of the country’s total population secured 38 per cent awards. It was also due to the visionary thinking of the Chief Minister, Harish Rao said. The number of medical colleges was increased in the new State of Telangana, he said.
While saying that the government was committed to fulfilling its promise of filling 80,000 vacancies, he stated that the government had regularised the services of the panchayat secretaries. He urged the panchayat secretaries to work with dedication. Telangana State stood first in developing the villages. No State in the country can match Telangana in the comprehensive development of villages. The State government sanctioned a tractor and trolley, nursery, dump yard, cremation ground and others to all villages. The villages in the State got the tag of cleanest villages. It led to the prevention and control of seasonal diseases, he said.
He recalled that the viral fevers used to break out during monsoons in the past. Now, the situation had turned for the better and quality healthcare was being provided to people in rural areas, he said.
It was said that “What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow.” Harish Rao said and added that “Now what Telangana thinks today, India thinks tomorrow.”

KCR to visit Medak district on August 19
Minister for Finance T Harish Rao on Monday visited Medak and inspected the arrangements for Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s visit to Medak on August 19. The Chief Minister, during his visit to the Medak district, will inaugurate the Integrated District Offices Complex, the office of the District Superintendent of Police and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi office. KCR would also address a public meeting.
Harish Rao0 held a review meeting with District Collector Rajarshi Shah, Zilla Parishad Chairperson R Hemalatha, MLAs Padma Devender Reddy, Chanti Kranti Kiran, C Madhan Reddy and M Bhupal Reddy and others.
