Protesting Sanjay, Eatala held oppn for probe by HC judge or CBI

The police arrested Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar and senior BJP leaders including Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender as they attempted to lay a siege on the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) office at Nampally demanding a judicial probe by a sitting HC Judge into the leak of question papers.

Sanjay, along with several senior BJP leaders and hundreds of BJP activists assembled at the Gun Park to pay homage to Telangana martyrs.As Sanjay and other BJP leaders and cadres were about to go to the TSPSC office at Nampally, the police blocked them saying there was no permission to stage protests.

Tension prevailed as Sanjay and BJP leaders were detained by the police while BJP workers tried to break through the police line. Shouting “We want justice,” the BJP workers marched towards the TSPSC office, but the police lathi-charged and dispersed them.

The police also attacked journalists and TV cameramen who were covering the protests by Sanjay and BJP leaders. Some BJP leaders including BJP Minority Morcha State Secretary Saifullah were injured and were taken to Care Hospital.

The police later arrested Sanjay and Eatala Rajender. BJP workers tried to block the police van, but the police arrested them. BJP workers and Mahila Morcha activists staged a sit-in before the Assembly raising slogans against the police.BJP workers and ABVP burnt effigies of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to protest Sanjay’s arrest.

The police took Sanjay and Eatala to the Karkhana police station in Secunderabad and kept them there till evening. Later, Sanjay left for Gandhi Hospital, where he visited the victims of Swapnalok fire mishap and from there he went to Care Hospital to see BJP workers injured in the lathicharge.

Sanjay called for protests across Telangana on Saturday demanding a judicial inquiry into the TSPSC question paper leakage and sacking of IT Minister KT Rama Rao.Earlier, addressing BJP workers at Gun Park, Sanjay demanded that the Chief Minister should respond on the TSPSC leak and sack KT Rama from the cabinet.

He reiterated his demand for sacking the TSPSC chairman and other members of the commission who were responsible for the leakage of question papers and pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to all those who had suffered due to the TSPSC leak.

Meanwhile, the NSUI approached the HC on Friday requesting the court to order a CBI or an inquiry by a sitting HC Judge into the TSPSC leak.NSUI State President Balmorr Venkat Narsing Rao filed the writ at the HC saying that the BRS brass is involved in the TSPSC leak and that the SIT is under the state government’s control and therefore a CBI probe is needed.

The Youth Congress and NSUI activists tried to lay a siege on the TSPSC office on Friday. But the police stopped them at Gandhi Bhavan.Earlier, the Youth Congress and NSUI activists staged a dharna, ‘Nirudyogula Arigosa’ at the Gandhi Bhavan. Later, the activists tried to storm the TSPSC office, but the police stopped them.

Meanwhile, the opposition staged protests and sent letters to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao demanding a judicial inquiry into the leak of TSPSC question papers by an HC judge.

TPCC President Revanth Reddy sent a letter to KCR demanding dismissal of IT Minister KT Ramarao immediately as the IT department is maintaining the TSPSC’s IT wing. He also demanded a judicial probe by a sitting HC Judge. He said the Congress has no confidence in the SIT.

Describing the TSPSC question paper leak as a big scam, TPCC Working President T. Jagga Reddy asked the government to reveal what the vigilance department of the TSPSC is doing. He demanded that the government should hold TSPSC Chairman Janardhan Reddy responsible for the question paper leak.

Alleging that Ministers had a role in the TSPSC paper leakage, YSRTP President YS Sharmila lashed out at KCR, for not conducting a review meeting regarding the TSPSC leak.

She pointed out that the CM had held a review meeting immediately after MLC Kavitha’s name surfaced in connection with the Delhi liquor scam. On Friday, the police kept Sharmila under house arrest as she tried to lay a siege on TSPSC office.

BSP state president RS Praveen Kumar said that the KCR family is connected to the TSPSC question paper leak. He said that the KCR family has agents in the TSPSC’s confidential section.
