Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar held a detailed review meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday with the Chairmen and Managing Directors (CMDs) of the power distribution companies (DISCOMs). The review focused on agricultural power connections, outages, and the progress of major initiatives such as PM Surya Ghar and the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).
The Minister assessed the approvals granted so far for agricultural electricity connections and instructed officials to ensure all eligible farmers receive power connections ahead of the upcoming agricultural season.
Ravi Kumar expressed concern over ongoing power outages and directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply. He called for strict action against unscheduled power cuts and instructed that residents must be informed in advance of any emergency disruptions.
The Minister also reviewed pending projects in the energy department and urged officials to expedite their completion. Reviewing the PM Surya Ghar and RDSS schemes, he asked DISCOMs to speed up implementation.
He emphasised the need for awareness campaigns at the grassroots level to promote rooftop solar adoption under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, highlighting the importance of shifting towards sustainable energy.
The CMD of the Central Power Distribution Company, Pullareddy, attended the meeting in person, while the other CMDs participated virtually.
