In a relief to the opposition TDP leaders, the Andhra Pradesh High Court, on Monday, granted conditional anticipatory bail to four individuals linked to the recent violence in Angallu village, Annamayya district, and Punganur town, Chittoor district.

The anticipatory bail has been extended to TDP leaders Devineni Uma, Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy, Pulivarthi Nani, and Challa Babu in connection with the Angallu and Punganur riot cases, which transpired in the joint Chittoor district. It is important to note that anticipatory bail has been granted in four out of the seven cases registered against Punganur Constituency In-Charge Challa Babu. For the first three TDP leaders, namely Devineni, Nallari, and Pulivarthi, the court has imposed certain conditions.

They are restricted from entering the Annamayya district for a period of four weeks, and they are obligated to present themselves at the Kurnool III Town police station every Sunday.

Notably, the police had filed an attempt-to-murder case against TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in connection with the incidents in Angallu and Punganur. However, Naidu has opted not to seek anticipatory bail in these cases, vehemently contending that the police have levied baseless charges against him, despite his lack of involvement in the violence. He has even alleged that YSRCP leaders were the aggressors and falsely implicated him in these cases.
