When Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced the Gaddar Film Awards last year, the Telugu film industry’s response was lukewarm. The CM even criticised the lack of enthusiasm. Later, Chiranjeevi and a few others uploaded a video appreciating the CM and the awards initiative.
But now, with the event approaching soon, all the big stars of Telugu cinema are competing for the Gaddar Film Awards. The government has formed a jury, chaired by senior actress Jayasudha, to review films released in 2024. The awards ceremony is scheduled for the second week of June. FDC Chairman Dil Raju has already stated that they intend to make this a grand event.
According to a source, Mahesh Babu’s Guntur Kaaram, NTR’s Devara and Prabhas’ Kalki are all nominated for awards. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 is also in the race. The source revealed that around 72 films from 2024 are under consideration. Nani’s Saripodhaa Sanivaaram is also among them.

The jury is watching two to three films each day and will make decisions based on majority consensus. Interestingly, several small films are also competing with big-budget films. This is the first time in a decade that the Telangana state government is organising film awards under the leadership of Revanth Reddy. Over a thousand applications have been submitted, including from technical and other departments.
