Putting a full stop to the sin of body shaming

Must read

Body-shaming someone for being overweight or skinny has become an everyday reality. And, so, for our weekly edition of Community Wise, we bring to you about an initiative and a global revolution toward radical self-acceptance
in who we are.

Being body-shamed  became an everyday reality for an inspirational speaker, which made Devina Kaur give rise to ‘Sexy Brilliant Global Revolution’—an insurrection to keep away from statements that were triggering to hear for her. Also a radio host, she’s rigidly against conventional body standards.

What is she doing with the rebellion because she is not accepted by society in a certain way?We asked, and she said, “We live in a world that tells us that we are never enough—as we try to mold ourselves to the expectations that people have of us. Remember that body positivity is a learned behavior! It is very important to accept yourself and your body as you are. You have permission to be selfish. You can be selfish, and you need not worry about other people and their opinions. What other people think is less important than what you think of yourself.”

This culture is actually deeply ingrained in our society. Bullying like this needs to stop! Just for this, she began a mutiny: “Relationships are based on love, mutual respect, personal development, and a lot of compromises. Most women stay in toxic relationships because of financial dependence and societal pushback! Many women have been raised to never think about divorce, as being a single woman adds a stigma to a woman’s life and character.

Choose yourself and your happiness. It is important to practice love and self-love and make yourself your number one priority in life. This includes mental health, emotional health, financial health, physical health, and even sexual health at the same time. Be realistic about your circumstances, and always strive to do better and grow through every life situation.”

It is not acceptable for people to reduce anyone to their bodies.Even actress Anushka Shetty was trending last month after photos of her at a temple went viral. Netizens judged her and found her wanting. Unrealistic beauty standards to which women are held are outright dangerous! “Life is always testing us and putting us in situations we have not resolved. It is always crucial to know who you are, accept the situation that you are in, and from there find a trusted source to release your pain.

My family has always been very supportive, and I have also been very fortunate to work with professionals to become a better version of myself. I encourage everybody to accept their darkness, to accept the difficult times that they are going through, and from there find the inner strength and wealth that each of us is gifted with.”

To stop this sort of fat-shaming, which seems to be on the rise, we really need uprising movements like these, which, “Like anybody starting a new venture, we start with an idea, and then it evolves into something bigger. My global movement comes from me overcoming my addictions and feeling not good enough about myself and my body, while also realising that many women struggle with similar problems. So the goal is to help others overcome their challenges. For me, it’s always been about leading the way and creating a pathway to help others find their inner wealth.”

The end number of female stars have dealt with being body shamed. For example, Raveena Tandon was called thunder thighs back in the 1990s. Selena Gomez was once addressed with hurtful comments on her appearance, revealing that the medication she takes for lupus affects her weight. Divyanka Tripathi and Amrita Arora called trolls who fat-shamed them last year. Where do we draw the line? But, happy to talk about the movement a little bit more, she says, “Being authentic is our superpower.

This also includes the size of your body, how tall you are, what color your skin is, etc. Being a fat or thin person does not mean that you are unhealthy. For example, I am overweight, but I am a senior martial artist! Being active in sports, walking, running, swimming, and other activities makes one feel better about themselves and their bodies, so it’s always important to know your body, know the activities you enjoy, and practice self-discipline towards a better version of yourself.

Love yourself as you are, and that starts with self-acceptance. Sexy Brilliant happened accidentally. It happened through my journey of overcoming addictions. The movement is all about helping you raise your consciousness and accept yourself, your ego, and all your darkness. It is a not-for-profit movement and a foundation to help women feel empowered. The global revolution’s role continues to be to help women empower themselves to be a better version of themselves and to practice radical self-acceptance. A lot of our members come back and tell us that they have evolved not only emotionally and financially but also spiritually.”
