R-5 zone case to come up for hearing in SC on September 1

The Supreme Court will hear the Amaravati R-5 zone case on September 1.

The state government has challenged in the Supreme Court the interim order issued by the AP High Court to stop the construction of houses in this zone within the capital region.

Farmers of Amaravati have filed a caveat to hear their arguments in this case. The R-5 zone case will be heard by a bench headed by Justice Sanjeev Khanna. Justice Sanjiv Khanna’s bench is also investigating the Amaravati capital case.

Earlier the AP High Court issued an interim order staying the construction of houses in the Amaravati R-5 zone. This decision was made in response to a petition filed seeking a halt to the construction of houses.

The AP government had previously granted house site pattas to the economically weaker in the name of Jagananna colonies in the R-5 zone. Approximately 1,400 acres of land have been distributed in the capital area, and house construction documents have been provided to 50,793 individuals in Amaravati.

The three-member High Court bench comprising Justice DVSS Somayajulu, Justice CH Manavendranath Rai, and Justice Ravinath Tilhari have passed the interim orders while hearing the petitions filed against the construction of houses in the R5 zone in Amaravati.
