The BJP demanded that the KCR government should convene an all-party meeting to discuss the situation brought about by the heavy rains which lashed many areas of the state.

Speaking to the media at the state BJP office here state BJP Vice-President NVSS Prabhakar said that the KCR government lacked foresight to tackle natural calamities.

The government should immediately convene an all-party meeting to discuss the rain damage, failure of the government and the negligence of GHMC officials if the government is sincere about addressing the problems of Hyderabad, Prabhakar said.

Holding KCR and his minister son KTR responsible for the public’s hardships, the senior BJP leader accused BRS leaders of grabbing lake lands and blamed the government’s failure to protect lakes for lakes overflowing and water entering residential colonies and low-lying areas.

The problems caused by heavy rains in Hyderabad city could have been avoided had the government implemented the Mission Kakatiya programme, Prabhakar said and added that the inept handling of the situation exposed the inefficiency of the KCR government.

The BJP leader said that there is no politics in bringing public problems to the notice of the CM and his minister son KTR. The party wanted to remind the government of its responsibility to the people, he added.

Taking a dig at the birthday celebrations of Municipal Administration Minister KTR, Prabhakar said that when fear gripped people living in the submerged colonies and low-lying areas nobody visited them. BRS leaders were busy cake-cutting and organising processions to attract the attention of the CM and KTR, he said.

The situation in GHMC areas was hopeless as there were manhole deaths, house collapses and dog attacks, he said.

Holding Municipal Administration Minister KTR responsible for this situation in the city, Prabhakar asked him to stop politicking and focus on public problems during the remaining five months of the BRS government.
