Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected at several places across Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema over the next seven days.
According to a weather bulletin issued on Saturday, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30–50 km/h are likely to occur at isolated locations in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema over the next five days.
Rainfall was reported in many areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places in Rayalaseema during the past 24 hours. The highest maximum temperature of 40.8°C was recorded at Nandyal in Rayalaseema on Friday, the report added. The Meteorological Centre stated that the north–south trough observed on Friday now extends from the cyclonic circulation over southeast Rajasthan and its neighbouring areas to southern Tamil Nadu, passing through Gujarat, Maharashtra, and interior Karnataka at around 0.9 km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority Managing Director Ronanki Kurmanath said that mixed weather conditions are likely to persist across the state until Wednesday. He noted that some areas may experience sunny weather while others may witness thunderstorms.
There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain with thundershowers at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts on Monday and Tuesday.
He advised people to avoid taking shelter under trees during rainfall and cautioned that maximum temperatures are expected to range between 41.5°C and 43°C over the next two days.
