Rajaram village adopts resolution to boycott LS polls

Must read

Residents of Rajaram village under Kotapalle mandal in Mancherial district have decided to boycott the Lok Sabha elections stating that there is no change in their lives despite successive parties coming to power in the State as well as at the Center.
No leader paid attention to developing their village, they contended. That is why they have decided to abstain from voting in the current Lok Sabha elections.  The villagers adopted a resolution in this regard. The issue became a hot topic for debate among the people of the district.
After the Swatantra TV broadcast story, the Revenue and police officials swung into action and appealed to the villagers to relent.  They assured the villages that they would address their grievances after the Lok Sabha elections. However, the villagers were in no mood to relent. They made it clear to the officials to release funds for the development of the village and then seek votes.
The villagers told the authorities that they would take part in the election process only after the government provided transport and drinking water to people. Unable to do anything, the officials left the village assuring them that they would bring to the attention of the District Collector the problems being faced by the people.
