For celebrities, especially Telugu actors, they have huge fan followings. When attending public functions, these celebrities should aim to inspire others, particularly their followers. However, some have crossed boundaries in their remarks. Not long ago, at a film function where popular cricketer David Warner was present as the chief guest, senior actor Rajendra Prasad went off-script and made some loose comments.
This is not the first time Rajendra Prasad has made headlines for controversial remarks. This time, however, he crossed a line by using unparliamentary language when speaking about David Warner. Knowing that Warner doesn’t understand Telugu, Rajendra Prasad took advantage of the language barrier, saying, “David Warner is not playing cricket; he’s just doing reels,” while mimicking the Pushpa walk. Then he continued to speak in a mocking tone, “Donga mun… koduku… orei Warneroo… me warning.”
What Rajendra Prasad thought might be a joke or an entertaining moment, appeared to many as disrespectful. David Warner, who didn’t understand the Telugu language, was left laughing at the situation, unaware of the comments made about him. Unfortunately, Rajendra Prasad’s words seemed to lower the respect of Telugu people in front of the cricket world.
The actor’s remarks have since sparked outrage online, with netizens trolling Rajendra Prasad for his comments, claiming that his behavior tarnished the reputation of the Telugu community.
In a similar incident, actor Sivaji made controversial remarks at the success meet of his recent film. While discussing his role’s success, he used harsh language, saying, “nee ya… nee tha… deenem…” It makes one wonder where things are heading, as more and more celebrities seem to lose control when addressing a live audience, especially with thousands watching online and hundreds attending the events in person.
