Senior actor Rajendra Prasad’s web series, Harikatha: Sambhavami Yuge Yuge, is set to stream on Disney Hotstar from December 13. At a promotional event for the series, Rajendra Prasad made some remarks that indirectly targeted Allu Arjun and his film Pushpa.
Rajendra Prasad reflected on his 48-year career in the film industry, saying, “It’s not a joke to work in this industry for so long.” He expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he has received and acknowledged that he has been fortunate to work on many good projects.
The actor emphasised that he has played the lead role in many films, including Aa Naluguru, Senapathi, Ladies Tailer, Appula Appa Rao, Pekata Paparao and April 1 Vidudala. He noted that these characters were inspired by society and his surroundings. In an indirect reference to Pushpa, Rajendra Prasad said, “You are all seeing, recently a red sandalwood thief has become a hero.” He added, “But I am lucky that I was a different kind of hero.”
Rajendra Prasad also commented on the recent ticket price hike, which is believed to be related to Pushpa 2. He said, “You don’t need to pay Rs 1000 to watch this web series; you can watch it at your home.”
The senior actor acknowledged that the film industry is undergoing a significant change, with the rise of digital platforms. “Now, the theater is coming to every home,” he said. “The content should be strong, and we are presenting such strong content in this Harikatha.”
Rajendra Prasad has acted with five generations of actors throughout his 48-year-long career. He listed some of the notable actors he has worked with, including NTR, ANR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR and Allu Arjun.
The actor praised the director Maggie for coming up with the web series Harikatha. He noted that some scenes in the series have drawn comparisons to late NTR’s mythological roles.
Rajendra Prasad plays the role of Rangachari in Harikatha, a character who tells Harikathas and chants the name of Hari throughout his life. The web series is produced by Peoples Media Factory and features a talented cast, including Sriram, Divi, Pujitha Ponnada and Mounika Reddy.
