In an exciting development for Indian cinema, acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj is set to collaborate with legendary actor Rajinikanth on their upcoming film, Coolie. Known for his successful films such as Master, Kaithi, Vikram and Leo, Kanagaraj is charting a new course with this standalone project.
Lokesh Kanagaraj’s most recent film, Leo, faced significant criticism for its failure to connect with his established cinematic universe, leaving many fans disappointed. In a recent interview, the director admitted to these shortcomings and expressed his commitment to making improvements with Coolie. Unlike his previous works, Coolie will not delve into themes of drug abuse but instead explore the world of gold smuggling. Rajinikanth is set to portray a character with grey shades, offering a fresh take for his audience.
The promotional teaser for Coolie has already been released, hinting at a commercial film filled with the dynamic elements that Rajinikanth’s fans eagerly anticipate. Lokesh Kanagaraj has promised that Coolie will deliver a distinctive and thrilling cinematic experience. Rajinikanth is expected to join the film’s production soon. Notably, the movie will also feature actor Sathyaraj, reuniting with Rajinikanth after four decades. The rest of the cast has yet to be disclosed.
Also, if the latest updates are to be believed, following the Hyderabad schedule, the shoot will continue in Chennai from today. A huge set has been erected for the same. Coolie will be a high budget action thriller with superstar Rajnikanth playing a negative role.
Reports also suggest that Rajnikanth’s two much-awaited films, Coolie and Jailer 2, might release in 2025.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is awaiting the release of Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel. Set to premiere on October 10, Vettaiyan boasts a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh and Manju Warrier, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. This film is highly anticipated by fans.
