Reach out to CAT

Must read

Four IAS officers Vakati Karuna, Vani Prasad, Amrapali Kata, and Srijana Gummalla have approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) challenging the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) decision to assign them to the Andhra Pradesh cadre.
This move comes as they try to continue their services in their respective states. The petitions will be heard on Tuesday.
Earlier, these officers held a meeting with Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari at the Secretariat. After extensive discussions, they decided to take the matter to the CAT. All four officers are women, with three hailing from Telangana and one from Andhra Pradesh.
This challenge follows the DoPT’s recent rejection of 11 IAS officers’ requests to remain in the Telangana cadre. The DoPT’s orders also affect IPS officers like Anjani Kumar, Abhilash Bist, Abhishek Mohanty who have been assigned to the Andhra Pradesh cadre.
This issue stems from the 2014 division of IAS and IPS officers between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The division of officers remains a contentious issue, with several officials taking legal action against the Centre.
The DoPT, after considering the recommendations of the Khandekar Commission set up in March 2024, reissued its orders and mandated a report from Andhra Pradesh by mid-October. Consequently, many officials are challenging these orders through the CAT. Ronald Rose also went to CAT.
