Red Cross sends relief materials

BVS Kumar, State Coordinator, Blood Centres & Projects, Indian Red Cross Society, AP State Branch, has said that in view of the continuous heavy rains, many villages in Godavari districts were severely affected.

S Abdul Nazeer, AP Governor and president of the Indian Red Cross Society Andhra Pradesh State Branch, has directed Dr A Sridhar Reddy, honorary chairman, and AK. Parida, general secretary and chief executive officer of the Indian Red Cross State Branch, to immediately provide relief materials, food and temporary shelter with tarpaulins in the affected villages to reduce the sufferings of the people. He stated that the first vehicle with the relief materials was sent to P Gannavaram from Vijayawada on Wednesday.

BVS Kumar said that in consultation with the Collector, Dr BR Ambedkar district, relief materials, food, hygiene kits and tarpaulins were rushed to P. Gannavaram mandal, where a number of families had lost their homes and were facing problems living in thatched huts. He said that they were coordinating with the Konaseema district officers and distributing relief materials to the families in the flood-affected villages.
