Minister for Water Resources Development, Nimmala Ramanaidu, has assured the public that relief measures will continue until the Godavari floodwaters recede, urging flood victims not to worry. The Minister visited the flood-affected village of Badava in Yelamanchili mandal on Tuesday.
Ramanaidu travelled by tractor through floodwaters to reach the village, where he waded through the inundated roads to interact with the victims and listen to their concerns. He also inspected the submerged paddy fields and distributed 25 kg of rice and essential commodities to the affected residents.
The Minister noted that the Srisailam reservoir was receiving heavy inflows and would soon be full. Water is being released to the Rayalaseema region through the Pothireddypadu regulator. Ramanaidu promised action against officials who failed to release water from the Handri Neeva project despite orders.
Lambasting former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ramanaidu accused the YSRCP-led government of indebting Andhra Pradesh by Rs 14 lakh crore. He alleged that the former Chief Minister borrowed extensively, mortgaging all government departments.
“Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has taken all necessary steps to implement welfare schemes for the poor despite the state’s financial constraints. The Chief Minister is working diligently to improve the financial situation of the state,” Minister Ramanaidu asserted. He was accompanied by several officials, including Special Officer for Flood Relief, B. Venkataramana.
