Penjarla village under Kothur mandal in Shadnagar constituency witnessed a historic moment with the inauguration of the renovated 800-year-old Swayambhu Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple. Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, who attended as the chief guest, expressed his delight that the temple is now gaining the same spiritual significance as the renowned Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temples in Kerala and Vikarabad.
The event, organised under the auspices of local MLA Veerlapalli Shankar, was attended by AICC National Secretary Challa Vamsi Chand Reddy, Rajendranagar MLA Prakash Goud, temple administrators, and other dignitaries. Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar was welcomed with a Poornakumbha ritual by temple administrators, including former ZPTC Shyamsunder Reddy and Temple Chairman Bezawada Anita Reddy. Following special prayers, he emphasized the temple’s potential to become a major spiritual tourism center in the future.
The Speaker commended the efforts of Shyamsunder Reddy and Bezawada Anita Reddy for their dedication in developing the temple, which was once surrounded by forest land. He assured that he would advocate for the allocation of special funds for further temple development. Highlighting the popularity of the Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Vikarabad, which attracts over 30,000 devotees on weekends, he predicted a similar influx at the Penjarla temple.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar expressed his wish for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s well-being and success in implementing the government’s promises. He also prayed for abundant rainfall and prosperity for farmers in the region.
Local MLA Veerlapalli Shankar reiterated his commitment to developing Shadnagar constituency as a spiritual hub. He lauded the efforts of Bezawada Anita Reddy and Shyamsunder Reddy in making the temple renovation a grand success. He also extended gratitude to Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar for assuring government support for temple development.
Temple Chairman Bezawada Anita Reddy highlighted the growing recognition of the temple, stating that devotees from across India and even foreign countries are visiting for darshan. She emphasized that the temple has a special significance, attracting devotees who seek divine blessings. Efforts have been made to enhance the temple’s infrastructure to showcase its spiritual prominence globally.
Former ZPTC Shyamsunder Reddy expressed his gratitude to all dignitaries, public representatives, and devotees for making the inauguration a grand success. He expressed hope that the Penjarla Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple would become a landmark in spiritual history, standing alongside its counterparts in Kerala and Vikarabad.
