BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has strongly criticised the Congress Government for replacing the Telangana Talli statue, calling it a direct attack on public sentiments and the legacy of the Telangana Movement.
Addressing the media, Kavitha declared, “The Telangana Talli statue is not just a symbol; it is the soul of our struggle, sacrifices, and identity. The Congress’s decision to replace it is an insult to the four crore people of Telangana.”
As a mark of protest, Kavitha performed symbolic Palaabhishekam and Panchamrutam Abhishekam at the original Telangana Talli statue site at the Telangana Bhavan.
She accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of attempting to rewrite history to impress his high command and said, “If Revanth wants to impress the Gandhis, there are countless ways to do so. Sacrificing Telangana’s identity is not one of them.”
Kavitha lambasted the Congress Government for its secrecy in unveiling the new statue, which coincided with Sonia Gandhi’s birthday. “This decision was made without public consultation. What is the Congress afraid of? Why not respect Public sentiments?” she asked.
She also pointed out the lack of connection between the new statue and Telangana’s culture and heritage.
“The original Telangana Talli statue was the icon of our statehood movement. It represented the emotional bond of Telangana’s people with their identity. The new statue does not reflect the spirit of our roots,” she said.
Kavitha accused the Congress of hypocrisy, highlighting their harsh treatment of protesting ASHA workers while claiming to represent the common woman through the new statute.
“KCR addressed the grievances of ASHA workers and respected their struggles. The Congress, on the other hand, silences voices and replaces symbols without understanding their significance,” she added.
Vowing to restore the original Telangana Talli statue if the BRS returns to power, Kavitha said, “We will not allow the Congress to rewrite our history. Telangana Talli is the pride of our culture, and its legacy will be preserved.”
She concluded by urging the people of Telangana to reject the Congress Government’s actions, asserting that the BRS will steadfastly protect the state’s identity and heritage.
