REPORTERS’ DIARY : BRS leaders still do not know their job as opposition party

Must read

Reporters ought not to struggle to get responses from opposition leaders, who, by default, may not be as busy as leaders of the ruling party. However, BRS bigwigs, despite switching sides in the Assembly, continue to behave as if they are still the ruling party. They are usually tight-lipped when asked to comment on burning issues or simply remain inaccessible. They unabashedly drive the narrative “Media is against us”. When they feel like reaching out to the media, they do so with a single-point agenda and refuse to take questions related to other subjects. This happens more often with the party’s working president K T Rama Rao, whose pressers are confined to a solitary topic. As the working president BRS, scribes expect him to confidently take a wide range of questions. This is in stark contrast to how things work with the Bharatiya Janata Party or the Congress. Some scribes did have the nerve to point out to the pink party brass: “That’s not how the Opposition works”.  Still, things have not changed. It perhaps indicates their lack of knowledge.
