Chief Minister Revanth Reddy appealed to Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to contest from Telangana in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The CM informed Sonia Gandhi that the TPPCC had already adopted a resolution urging her to contest from Telangana.                                                                                            Revanth said that the people of Telangana treated Sonia Gandhi like their ‘Mother’ for granting them statehood and that it is an appeal from the people that Sonia should contest from the state.
Responding, Sonia said that she would decide at the right time. Revanth paid a courtesy call on Sonia Gandhi at her official residence at #10, Janpath, in New Delhi on Monday. The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and the Revenue, Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
The CM informed Sonia about the progress in implementing the promises made by the Congress in the state.
The Chief Minister said that two of the six guarantees, that is, free bus travel for women and enhancement of Arogyasri limits to Rs 15 lakh from Rs 5 lakh, have already been implemented. 14 crore women have already travelled on RTC buses for free. The Chief Minister told Sonia that the state government’s readiness to implement two more guarantees, that is, free supply of up to 200 units of power and an LPG cylinder for Rs 500.
The CM also informed Sonia that the government had decided to conduct a caste census and preparations are being made for that. The Chief Minister told Sonia Gandhi that the TPCC is trying hard to win most of the LS constituencies in Telangana in the forthcoming
Lok Sabha elections.
The party is receiving applications from hopefuls from all Lok Sabha constituencies.
