TPCC President Revanth Reddy is opposing YSRTP President YS Sharmila’s entry into the Congress and an alliance with her party, it is learnt. He has been strongly opposing Sharmila’s entry into the party with the Congress high command. It is learnt that Revanth has been stating that he has no objections if the high command inducts Sharmila in Andhra Pradesh. However, Sharmila is interested only in politicking in Telangana.
It may be recalled that once Revanth issued a statement that Sharmila will not be allowed to head the TPCC till he continues as the TPCC President. Revanth is opposing an alliance or a merger of Sharmila’s party with the Congress in Telangana as there is no need for Andhra domination in Telangana.
As part of it, Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakre made it clear on Friday that YSRTP President Sharmila is in touch with the high command and added that the Congress will gain massively in AP if Sharmila joins it.
Thakre issued this statement after Sharmila’s Tweet stating, “I was always in Telangana and will be in Telangana till my last breath. I request speculators to stop making plans about my future and instead write about issues pertaining to the people of my state Telangana and highlight the misrule and massive corruption of KCR, his family and his party activists. My future is in Telangana with its people.” In fact, Sharmila has been issuing statements these days supporting the Congress after the Karnataka election results with the aim to defeat the BRS in the next elections. She also met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar twice. It is learnt that discussions are going on between Congress and Sharmila to ensure an amicable solution. But Thakre’s words may give a new turn to the Sharmila episode.
