Revanth Reddy defends using bad language

Must read

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, while speaking at the launch of the book ‘Vijaya Telangana’, hailed senior leader Devender Goud as one of the most admirable politicians and a key figure in the Telangana Movement.
“The earlier dignity found in the Legislatures of Telangana is not there today. Today, there is a competition among those who speak in the Assemblies on how many curses they have uttered, how badly they have cursed, and how rudely they have spoken. This is not good for Telangana. Today, Telangana is in a situation where young children have to change TV channels while politicians are talking. You can ask me why I am talking like that, the game is like that, if I don’t play it, then I will be out. I am not willfully playing this game,” the CM said.
He emphasised that Devender Goud had documented the Telangana Movement from the people’s perspective, unlike some who distorted history to suit their narratives. The Chief Minister stressed that the sacrifices of students and youth in the agitation should be duly recorded in history.
“An attempt was made to portray Telangana as the achievement of a single person, a single family, and a single party. However, the truth is far from it,” Revanth remarked. He stressed Devender Goud’s decision to exit his party even though he was the second most influential leader in it.
“He sacrificed a comfortable political career and came out for Telangana. He undertook a padayatra, asserting that Godavari waters would make Telangana fertile. It was his efforts that pushed the then government to take up the Chevella-Pranahita Project,” the Chief Minister recalled.
Revanth also pointed out that during the agitation, Telangana youth did not just write ‘TG’ on walls but engraved it on their hearts. “It was Devender Goud who made them write ‘TG’ on walls. In keeping with public sentiment, our government renamed ‘TS’ to ‘TG’ after coming to power,” he added.
He said that the song Jaya Jaya He Telangana was made the official state anthem to honour the people’s hopes. “These were not my thoughts, but the collective voice of the people,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to recognizing those who made supreme sacrifices for the movement. “We have allotted house sites and Rs 1 crore each to nine activists who gave everything for Telangana,” he said.

He lamented that leaders like Devender Goud were no longer active in politics, calling it a great loss to Telangana. “Telangana needs leaders who uphold values and principles,” he concluded.
