TPCC President Revanth Reddy launched his Yatra from the Sammakka Saralamma Temple on Monday.

Taking the first step in Medaram he said that it was taken to trample the KCR government asunder.

He was speaking at a corner meeting in the Pasra village of Mulugu on Monday held as part of the ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo’ padayatra organised by the TPCC as a continuation of the ‘Bharat Jodo’ padayatra undertaken by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

“Seetakka won as an MLA from Mulugu, and the fame of Mulugu reached New Delhi. The BJP wants to consolidate its power by creating divides. The Congress was launched on the foundation of sacrifices. That is why Rahul marched throughout the country to protect the country’s integrity risking his life,” Revanth said.

“The AICC decided to organise the ‘Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra’ as per the spirit of Rahul’s message. There is a reason to start this yatra from Medaram. Sammakka-Saralamma are forest deities. They fought till the last drop of blood against the monarchy for their people. This is the land where Sammakka-Sarakka fought against the Kakatiya Empire. This is the ground where the Nizam government was shaken by armed peasant struggle. That is why we are ready to fight with the blessings of those mothers,” Revanth said addressing the people who gathered there.

KCR is acting as per his whims and fancies and misusing power, Revanth said and added that the Congress was brought to power with YSR’s Chevella Chellemma’s sentiment, he said. Seethakka welcomed me with Arathi in the presence of Sammakka-Sarakka. The Yatra will be a resounding success, he added.

“Looking at this government, it seems like monarchy has returned. Due to KCR’s misrule, the wails of the martyrs of Telangana are still being heard. This government is trying to bury the sacrifices of martyrs. Is consuming pesticides and dying in debt farmers’ welfare? The government spent nine years without issuing job notifications.

Is the unemployed committing suicide due to lack of jobs welfare? Is it welfare to keep the poor from education without giving fee reimbursement? Is it welfare not to give a pension to the wife if the husband is given pension? Has anyone got double-bedroom houses? Has there been a loan waiver of Rs 1 lakh for farmers? After the formation of Telangana till now budgets of Rs 25 lakh crore were introduced. Going by that, each constituency should get Rs 20,000 crore. Did Mulugu get Rs 20,000 crore? And where did that Rs 25 lakh crore budget go? Isn’t it true that some vultures pocketed the money? In Telangana, only 10 per cent of investors benefited from KCR. Isn’t it KCR who turned Telangana into mounds of the dead? This trip is intended to change the lives of farmers, the unemployed, the students and weaker sections. If you want change in the state, KCR must lose power. We are launching this yatra with the slogan change. This government has to go if there has to be change. For change to happen, there must be a change in everyone’s thoughts. KCR knows nothing. He doesn’t listen to anyone. Do we need KCR?,” Revanth said.

Mulugu MLA Seethakka said that the government came to know that TPCC president Revanth Reddy is coming and immediately promised to give pattas for podu lands.

“The Congress distributed lakhs of acres to the poor. The Congress is a party that has given livelihood to the poor. It is the responsibility of all of us to save such a party,” she said.

People came to know that Revanth Reddy’s Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra is going to start from Mulugu and within a short time thousands came.

Seethakka said that she understands how excited people are and want the Congress to come to power.

“Sammakka Sarakka fought for the rights of Adivasis and was martyred. I am happy that Revanth started the yatra from the temple. Even though I’m a poor child you embraced me. It’s a pleasure to be affectionately called akka by three generations. Until the Congress comes to power, we have to go hand in hand and walk step in step,” she said.

“When I look at Revanth’s yatra, I am reminded of YSR. He travelled from Chevella with his sister. Revanth started his journey from Mulugu with Seethakka by his side. Divisive politics is going on in the country. Rahul undertook the Bharat Jodo Yatra to save the country. Through this yatra, we will take Rahul’s message to villages. Revanth is conducting this padayatra inspired by Rahul. The Congress has to come to power to alleviate the sufferings of the poor,” she said.

Earlier in the day, Revanth conducted special prayers to Sammakka-Saralamma at Medaram, took the blessings of forest goddesses and formally launched the Hath Se Hath Jodo padayatra.

The padayatra started from Medaram and went on till Project Nagar. He took a break there. On the way, women farmhands from Puttapur village met Revanth. He listened to their problems. After the Pasra corner meeting, the padayatra went on till Ramappa village. Revanth will rest in that village.

Revanth, who reached Mulugu for the Hath Se Haath Jodo Yatra, first prayed at the temple of Mulugu Gattamma. It is not uncommon for devotees who come for the blessings of Sammakka-Saralamma to visit Mulugu Gattamma first, pray and go to Medaram. Later, prayers were held at Sai Baba temple too.

Revanth Reddy, who was on his way to Medaram for the Hath Se Hath Jodo Yatra was accorded a grand welcome by Congress leaders Konda Murali, Nayani Rajender Reddy and others at the Devannapet toll plaza on Warangal Outer Ring Road. Similarly, at Ghatkesar in Medchal district, Congress leaders greeted Revanth with a huge garland.
