In politics logic and timing are important whatever the facts may be if one wants to corner rivals during elections.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is using this logic to corner the BJP on the reservations issue and has become a hero now in the eyes of the Congress high command.
He has also given a powerful weapon to the INDIA combine headed by the Congress to attack the BJP during the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP has declared during its election campaign in Telangana that if they are voted to power they will scrap the four per cent reservations given to Muslims.
Revanth linked this to not conducting the 2021 census by the NDA government led by the BJP which has been in power for the last 10 years.
The CM said that the BJP has a ‘hidden’ agenda to scrap reservations and to convince the public about this he said that if a caste census is conducted the Centre will have to provide more than 50% reservation to SCs, STs and OBCs.
He said that any attempt to scrap reservations would require a two-thirds majority in Parliament and that for this the BJP is aiming to win 400 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
The CM said that the BJP’s ‘hidden’ agenda is to scrap all reservations by amending the Constitution after winning 400 seats in the Lok Sabha and that the BJP government is not conducting the census due to this.
Quoting BJP leaders’ statements on removing Muslim reservations, the CM said that if the BJP is voted to power it will abolish reservations for SCs and STs too.
The Congress high command liked the logic and the timing of Revanth in cornering the BJP on the quota issue. The Congress high command reportedly asked its leaders to campaign about this issue in other states to corner the BJP on the quota issue.
Revanth Reddy has now become a hero in the eyes of the Congress high command and AICC leaders have reportedly appreciated him on this issue.
In these circumstances, if the Congress wins a majority of LS seats in Telangana, Revanth will emerge as a strong leader in the eyes of the party’s high command too.
