Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has said that the state government has been distributing the kits made using modern technology to toddy tappers to prevent accidents like falling from trees. The IIT Hyderabad devised the kits. He distributed the Katamaiah Raksha Kits to toddy tappers at his camp office at Kusumanchi on Monday. The state government would distribute these kits to toddy tappers with the help of the Backward Classes corporation and Excise Department and with the cooperation of the Telangana toddy tappers’ cooperative finance corporation, Hyderabad. The state government is committed to the welfare of the toddy tappers and it got the Katamaiah Rakshana Kavacham kits (special rope) devised with the help of the IIT. The government is ready to lend support to traditional crafts. The objective of it is the welfare of the weaker sections, he added.
