Rhea Chakraborty is embarking on a new chapter in her life by using motivational speaking as her main source of income and leaving the film industry behind. In her most recent podcast episode, Chapter 2, actress Rhea discusses her life since the passing of her ex-boyfriend, actor Sushant Singh Rajput, and the attention she received from the public and media.
This past Saturday saw the debut of Chakraborty’s podcast, which includes an open discussion with actor Sushmita Sen. Chakraborty addressed the ambiguity surrounding her career in the episode.
“People are confused about what I do for a living anymore,” she stated. “I am not acting in films; I engage in motivational speaking and that’s how I earn my money.”
This change of emphasis follows a time of great public attention and personal difficulties. Chakraborty encountered strong opposition after Rajput’s death in June 2020, which culminated in his arrest in September 2020 on suspicion of narcotics procurement. The same year, in October, she was given bail.
The name Chapter 2 for Chakraborty’s podcast symbolises her fresh start. She explained, “Everybody knows my ‘chapter one,’ or assumes that they know it. I went through many phases of feeling different emotions, being different versions of myself. Finally, I am feeling more me, but a newer version, like a rebirth. I want to celebrate that with anyone who has a ‘chapter two.’ It is okay to start again and move on in life.”
Chakraborty has also given some thought to how people have interpreted her public persona. She saw that her appearance was frequently misconstrued, drawing both praise and criticism.
She humorously described her ability to “polarise” rooms, saying, “I often joke that I have a big superpower. I enter a room and can polarise it! Half of them would think, ‘She has done something, she is a witch, she practices black magic,’ and the other half would think, ‘She’s a strong girl who fought through it, she had courage.’”
