With regard to this controversy, a former employee of the institute, Murali Krishna has invoked the Right to Information Act (RTI) by uncovering disagreeable revelations about the appointment of Ajit Ranade that violates UGC guidelines, 2018 of appointing a VC, through his letter to the UGC.
According to the UGC guidelines,2018, a candidate who is eligible for the Vice-Chancellor’s designation should have served as a professor at any university for a minimum of 10 years. The former employee also filed a complaint with the UGC, citing the Supreme Court’s order on Prof  Narendra Singh Bhandari vs Ravindra Jugeran.
As per the letter to the UGC, Murali Krishna also stated that the Supreme Court has quashed and set aside the VC’s appointment ruling that Prof NS Bhandari’s appointment as VC in Soban Singh Jeena University, Uttarakhand, is illegal despite serving for eight years and five months in the university. He also stressed the importance of adhering to UGC guidelines as the Commission will take appropriate action on universities which fail to do so.
