Prakasam District Collector A Thameem Ansariya has announced that loans amounting to Rs 13,420.90 crore have been sanctioned by banks in the district as of September 30, 2024.
The District Consultative Committee and District Level Review Committee meetings, chaired by the Collector, were held here on Tuesday to assess the progress on loan targets set for the banks. Collector Ansariya reviewed these targets with representatives from various banks.
The Collector urged bankers to be more flexible in offering loans to low-income groups, self-help groups (SHGs), entrepreneurs, and tenant farmers.
For the 2024-25 financial year, the district’s credit plan target was set at Rs 20,591.18 crore, with loans worth Rs 13,420.90 crore sanctioned as of September 30, achieving 65.17 percent financial progress, she stated.
Additionally, Rs 5,141.38 crore has been disbursed as crop loans under the Kharif target of Rs 3,900.40 crore, achieving 131.81 percent of the target. The Rabi target for crop loans is set at Rs 4,737.16 crore, and all tenant farmers holding CCRC cards are eligible for loans based on their entitlements, she informed bankers.
Collector Ansariya also highlighted that Rs 715.43 crore worth of loans have been granted to 10,880 SHGs under the District Rural Development Corporation, achieving 42.81 percent of the target of Rs 1,671.03 crore for this year. Through MEPMA, loans totalling Rs 268.77 crore have been sanctioned to 1,757 SHGs, surpassing the target of Rs 59.40 crore.
“The Central and State governments are implementing numerous welfare schemes for the poor, and bank officials should extend loans to eligible beneficiaries promptly. Bankers must also conduct financial and digital literacy programmes to encourage cashless transactions,” she added.
SP A.R. Damodhar presented on cybercrimes, advising bankers to remain vigilant. Lead District Manager Ramesh, DRDA and MEPMA PD Vasundhara, Agriculture JD Srinivasulu, and APMIP PD Ramana were among those who attended the meeting.
