The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on Tuesday approved the invitation of tenders for the construction of residential towers for gazetted and non-gazetted officers in the core capital area, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,732.31 crore.
Briefing mediapersons on the decisions taken during the 47th CRDA meeting held at the State Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana said that tenders were approved for various development works in the capital city of Amaravati. This includes completion of residential towers for gazetted officers, worth Rs 514.41 crore, initiated during 2014–19, and another Rs 194.73 crore for external infrastructure development.
He stated that approval was also granted for the construction of nine residential towers for non-gazetted officers at a cost of Rs 506.67 crore, and for 12 additional towers including basic infrastructure at a cost of Rs 517.10 crore.
In addition, the CRDA cleared tenders for the construction of a 190 MLD-capacity water treatment plant along with its operation and maintenance for five years, at an estimated cost of Rs 560.57 crore. Approval was also given for the construction of overhead tanks worth Rs 494.86 crore.
The CRDA further approved tenders for the construction of E-3, E-13, and E-15 connecting roads to national highways. Narayana said a 1.5-km-long elevated road on the E-3 seed access route and a 4.10-km stretch on the E-13 route will be taken up at a cost of Rs 348.78 crore. The E-15 road will also be extended by 3.98 km at a cost of Rs 70 crore.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Committee, which met on Tuesday to consider land allocation in the core capital area, approved allotment of land to seven organisations. These include 55 acres for a Law University, 50 acres for Quantum Valley, 0.78 acres each for the Income Tax Department and the Indian Red Cross Society, 0.40 acres for the head office of Coastal Bank, and one acre for IRCTC Hotels.
Narayana said that while 15 acres had earlier been allocated to the Basavatarakam Cancer Institute, an additional six acres have now been sanctioned for establishing a medical college. In total, land has been allotted to 71 units so far, covering 1,050 acres, including 64 organisations previously approved, he added.
