Rs 250 cr Finance Commission funds released to gram panchayats

The Minister for Finance, Planning, Commercial Taxes and Legislative Affairs, Payyavula Keshav, released grants to the tune of Rs.250 crore to the local bodies under the first phase of the 15th Finance Commission. Minister Keshav assumed the office at the Secretariat at Velagapudi on Thursday. He first signed on the file releasing the grant to the local bodies.
Speaking on the occasion, Keshav said that as per the promise given by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, his government sanctioned the grant of the 15th Finance Commission for all gram panchayats in the State. During the election campaigning, Chandrababu Naidu had promised to the local bodies’ representatives to release the Finance Commission funds and that would be credited into their bank accounts. Using these funds, the gram panchayats will provide various amenities for the public, he added.
Finance Department Principle Secretary Piyush Kumar, Secretaries Dr KVV Satyanarayana, Janaki, and Vinay Chand, Chief Commissioner, State Taxes, Girija Sankar, Finance Department Special Secretary K Adinarayana, Treasuries Director Mohana Rao, APGLI Director Srinivas and others were present.
