Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi stated that the State government has set a historic record in allocating funds to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). For the 2024-25 financial year, the State government allocated approximately Rs 6,045 crore to the GHMC, of which Rs 2,752 crore has already been released.
Out of the Rs 2,965.61 crore allocated in the budget, Rs 1,552.52 crore has been released so far. Additionally, Rs 1,150 crore has been released from stamp duty collections and Rs 49.36 crore through State Finance Commission grants.
In comparison, the previous government released only Rs 3,652 crore over a ten-year span (2014-2023). This included Rs 1,415.39 crore from the State Finance Commission, Rs 1,776.53 crore from stamp duty, and a mere Rs 460.79 crore from budget allocations. The current government’s release of higher funds in just one year, compared to the entire decade under the previous government, is a significant indicator of its commitment to GHMC’s development, she noted.
Mayor Vijayalakshmi said that the fund allocations and disbursements would substantially support city infrastructure, traffic management, various development projects, cleanliness and public safety. She stated that the Praja Palana government’s allocation of the necessary resources to transform Hyderabad into a global city stands as clear evidence of its dedication.
