Rs 286.54 cr for water supply, drainage projects in WG dist

District Collector P Prashanthi has said that the water supply, draining maintenance and other projects will be taken up at a cost of Rs 286.54 crore under the Amit 2.0 scheme in West Godavari district.

In a statement here on Thursday, the Collector said that under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrit) 2.0 scheme, works would be carried out in selected cities with funds from the Central and state governments.

In Akividu, Narasapuram, Bhimavaram, Tanuku and Tadepalligudem towns have been selected for work under the Amrit 2.0 scheme, the Collector stated.

Based on the projects identified in the City Water Balance Plan (CWBP) in Amrit 2.0, the mission aims to make cities ‘water secure’ through a circular economy of water, she said, adding that it will focus on functional water tap connections, recycling and reuse of treated sewage, rejuvenation of water resources and water conservation.

“Under the scheme Rs 18.26 crore will be spent for providing drinking water in Jagananna colonies in Tanuku, Bhimavaram and Tadepalligudem, Rs 5.92 crore for development works in Akividu and two works to be carried out at a cost of Rs 26.50 crore. Drinking water project will be taken up in Narasapuram at a cost of Rs 21 crore, 47.29 crore will be spent to supply drinking water and construct an overhead tank and lay pipelines ato provide taps to every household in Bhimavaram town. Rs 41.79 crore will be spent for drinking water projects in Tadepalligudem,” the Collector explained.

Collector Prashanthi said that Rs.13.39 crores would be spent for the construction of STP (recycling and reuse of treated sewage) in Bhimavaram town.

Rs.12.19 crores would be spent for the construction of STPs in Tadepalligudem Jagananna Colony, and Rs.100.2 crore would be spent for the construction works of STPs in Tadepalligudem, she said adding that the process of tenders will start in the month of August as soon as the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) are approved. The Amrit 2.0 scheme will run for a period of five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26.
