The Andhra Pradesh government has finalised L1 tenders for the construction of five major administrative towers in Amaravati’s core capital region at an estimated cost of Rs 3,673 crore, announced State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana.

Addressing the media at the State Secretariat, the minister detailed the tender allocations: NCC has bagged the contract for the Rs 882 crore GAD Tower, Shapoorji Pallonji Group will construct HOD Towers 1 & 2 at a cost of Rs 1,487 crore, and L&T will build HOD Towers 3 & 4 for Rs 1,304 crore. Construction is expected to commence shortly.

The decision was taken during the 48th CRDA Authority meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The minister emphasised that the designs follow the original plans developed during the 2014–2019 period. The aim is to centralise public administration to make governance more accessible and efficient.

Minister Narayana also announced key infrastructure initiatives in Amaravati, including an international airport over 5,000 acres, a 2,500-acre smart industrial zone, and a 2,500-acre international sports city, requiring a total of 10,000 acres. The government is consulting with farmers at the village level to decide between land acquisition and land pooling.

Encouragingly, over 36,000 acres have already been pledged by farmers under the land pooling scheme. The government targets acquiring 40,000 acres through this model. The CRDA has approved expansion of the land pooling area beyond the current 217 sq. km.

The authority also sanctioned registration fee waivers for educational and healthcare institutions to be established in Amaravati.

Minister Narayana affirmed that the goal is to complete all construction in the core capital area within the next three years and to implement Phase-2 land pooling to support future development.
