Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has issued orders to increase the Social Security Pension amount, effective July 1, 2024. The existing YSR Pension Kanuka has been renamed the “NTR Bharosa Pension Scheme,” fulfilling a promise made during the elections.
Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad released GO Ms No 43 on Friday, detailing the changes. The pension amount for various categories of pensioners will be increased, and the new scheme name will be implemented starting from July 1.
The order outlines the enhancement of the existing pension amount from Rs 3,000 per month to Rs 4,000 per month for categories including Old Age Pensions, Widows, Weavers, Toddy Tappers, Fishermen, Single Women, Traditional Cobblers, Transgender individuals, ART (PLHIV), and Dappu Artists. Additionally, the pension for disabled persons will increase from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 for all persons with disabilities and those with multiple deformities due to leprosy.
For fully disabled persons, the pension will rise from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000, while those with chronic diseases such as Bilateral Elephantiasis-Grade 4, and those undergoing treatments for kidney, liver, and heart transplants, as well as certain CKDU conditions, will see an increase from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000. The government stated that the enhanced pensions will be retroactively effective from April 1, 2024, with the arrears disbursed from July 1, 2024. This means that beneficiaries will receive Rs 7,000 in July 2024, followed by Rs 4,000 per month thereafter. For individuals with CKDU on dialysis (both private and government), Sickle Cell disease, Thalassemia, and severe haemophilia, the pension amount remains at Rs 10,000 per month without an increase.
Additionally, Sainik welfare pensions and Amaravati Landless Poor pensions remain at Rs 5,000 per month, and Abhayahastam pensions remain at Rs 500 per month.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) and the Commissioner of the PR & RD Department have been directed to implement the new pension disbursements from July 1.
