Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry Talasani Srinivas Yadav announced that a new library worth Rs 60 lakh will be constructed in Shaikpet. He laid the foundation stone for the library on Tuesday.
He further stated that Rs 9.40 crore will be spent to construct new buildings for 14 libraries which are currently located in rented buildings or lie in a dilapidated state. He stressed on the restoration of these libraries claiming that they were neglected by the previous governments. The Minister also alleged that funds weren’t allocated for repairing these libraries.
Yadav went on to say, “A large number of candidates appearing for competitive exams visit these libraries for preparation. The Telangana government has been providing all facilities, including study material for such exams.”
Addressing a gathering at Jubilee Hills along with MLA Maganti Gopinath, the Minister said, “Libraries are store houses of knowledge. Hence it is necessary to preserve them.”
