NTR District Collector Dr G Srijana has disclosed that funds worth around Rs. 80 crore were sanctioned under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme (MGNREGA) to the district. As per the instructions from the State government, the district administration conducted Grama Sabhas in all gram panchayats. During these grama sabhas, works will be identified and later the necessary steps will be taken for the development of villages considering people’s opinions, she said.
Collector Srijana participated in many Grama Sabhas on Friday. In the Grama Sabha held at Jupudi of Ibrahimpatnam mandal, Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad was also present, while MLA Sriram Rajagopal alias Tataiah attended the programme at Chillakallu of Jaggayyapeta mandal along with the Collector. As part of the Grama Sabhas, the Collector planted saplings and inspected wealth creation centres.
Srijana stated that the State government is conducting the Grama Sabhas for the comprehensive development of villages, taking inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi. The primary aim is ‘Swarna Grama Panchayats’, she added.
Further, she stated that plans have been prepared with people’s participation for the villages’ development. “However, they are prioritising drinking water tap connections, individual toilet constructions, CC roads, drainage maintenance systems and other infrastructure facilities. Also, they are creating awareness among the people on the Upadhi scheme, works to be taken under the scheme, social audit and more,” she said.
MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad said that he will strive to develop all villages in Mylavaram constituency in a phased manner. The State government had sanctioned Rs.22.50 crore to his constituency for the development of villages. If necessary, he can use DMF and CSR funds, he said.
At the Chillakallu Grama Sabha, MLA Rajagopal said that the government is implementing developmental works without any corruption and working transparently and dedicatedly.
