Rajya Sabha member and Chairman of the Study Committee, Dr M Thambidurai, has assured that a report on pending projects and fund-related issues concerning Andhra Pradesh will be submitted to the Rajya Sabha Chairman.

The Rajya Sabha Study Committee held a review meeting here on Friday to examine government assurances related to roads and national highways, tourism, civil aviation, atomic energy, coal mines, financial services, and public asset management. Dr Thambidurai said the issues discussed during the meeting would be brought to the attention of the Rajya Sabha Chairman.

He noted that the committee was constituted to study the promises made by the Central Government to various States.

He explained that Rajya Sabha members frequently raise questions about pending projects, fund allocations, and unemployment issues in their constituencies. The committee evaluates these concerns and monitors the implementation of government commitments, he added.

Dr Thambidurai stated that matters related to the release of funds to Andhra Pradesh and incomplete projects in the State would be highlighted in the report, and appropriate steps would be taken for their resolution. He affirmed that the Central Government was willing to support Andhra Pradesh with the release of necessary funds and infrastructure development, especially national highways.

He acknowledged the financial challenges faced by Andhra Pradesh, describing it as a developing State, and reiterated that the Centre would extend full support. He also mentioned the difficulties in obtaining forest clearances for highway expansion in certain areas.

Highlighting major infrastructure projects, Dr Thambidurai said large-scale satellite roads, including one connecting Mumbai to Chennai via Andhra Pradesh, were under construction. These would aid the development of both Chennai and Andhra Pradesh. He added that the Krishnapatnam Port would see significant growth due to improved connectivity through national highways.

Committee members Birendra Prasad Baishya, Neeraj Dangi, Babubhai Jesangbhai Desai, R Girirajan, Mohammad Nadimul Haque, Dr Medha Vishram Kulkarni, Aditya Prasad, Smt Darshan Singh, Lahar Singh Siroya, and Jignesh Solanki were present.
