VC Sajjanar, Managing Director of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), stated that the RTC played a pivotal role in the Telangana movement, with its employees leading the strike that united the people. He said that the RTC employees were fearless and committed to the cause of a separate Telangana, even at the risk of their lives and jobs.
The TSRTC officials organised Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Bus Bhavan on Friday. VC Sajjanar, who was the chief guest at the event, unfurled the national flag. A tribute was paid to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Telangana movement, followed by a salute from TSRTC security personnel.
During the event, Sajjanar highlighted the significant contribution of RTC employees to the Telangana movement. He mentioned the 29-day strike from September 19 to October 17, 2011, in which 56,604 employees participated. Their dedication and efforts played a crucial role in achieving the goals of the movement. By bringing the wheels of the buses to a halt, RTC employees effectively rallied the people and ensured the success of the strike. Their role in the Telangana movement has been etched into the annals of history.
Sajjanar also acknowledged the sacrifices made by numerous individuals during the first and third phases of the Telangana movement.
He further mentioned that TSRTC has introduced numerous programmes over the past nine years, all inspired by the spirit of the Telangana movement. With the support and goodwill of the people, as well as the assistance of the state government, TSRTC is progressing by providing better and quality services. Sajjanar expressed confidence in the bright future of TSRTC, with the cooperation of the people and the dedicated efforts of its employees. He assured that the organisation will continue to introduce more programmes for the convenience of passengers in the future.
