Prakasam District Collector A Thameem Ansariya has directed the officials of Rural Water Supply (RWS) to take steps to complete the Jal Jeevan works expeditiously.
The Collector held meetings with the RWS officials and reviewed the progress of the works mandal-wise. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector told the officials that steps should be taken to complete the pending works undertaken through the Jala Jeevan Mission scheme in the district.
The RWS engineer explained to the Collector through a PowerPoint presentation that out of 2,424 works proposed for Rs 654.67 crores, 1721 works have been sanctioned and 1304 works have been completed so far. Another 185 works are in progress and 232 works have not yet started.
The district Collector told the officials to ensure that the works are carried out expeditiously and complete soon. He asked them to set daily targets to be achieved to complete the work soon. The mapping process should be carried out habitat-wise so that people would face difficulty drinking water. Collector Thameem Ansariya directed the officials that there is a need to pay special attention to the tribal villages to tackle the driver water shortage. As directed by the government, water testing should be done regularly and the details should be entered online, she ordered the RWS officials.
The Collector directed the RWS engineering officers to coordinate with the concerned MPDOs and take steps to complete the work quickly. The Collector ordered the officials to take steps to start the works which have not started yet. RWS SE Mardhan Ali and other officials and engineers were present.
