Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman Byreddy Siddartha Reddy has said that the SAAP is working intending to achieve more medals in national and international events, especially the Goa National Games. He claimed that the SAAP had been organising so many sporting events to encourage sportspersons.
The SAAP chairman inaugurated the reconstructed swimming pool and newly constructed gymnasium at Machilipatnam on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was very interested in promoting sports and games. Several sportspersons who excelled in national and international events were being given government jobs, he said. The SAAP is allotting vacant lands to establish sports academies for giving better coaching in various disciplines, he added.
He said that they were organising many sports events to create more opportunities for the sportspersons. Also, he disclosed that the SAAP was planning to organise sports tournaments across the State next summer.
Before the inauguration, the SAAP Chairman met District Collector P Rajith Basha and SP P Joshua.
Machilipatnam Municipal Corporation Mayor Moka Venkateswaramma, RDI I Kishore, YSRCP youth leader Perni Krishna Murthy and Krishna District Sports Authority Chief Coach Jhansi Lakshmi attended the function.
