Sabyasachi Ghosh, IAS, (1994), has been promoted to the apex scale of IAS (Level 17 in the Pay Matrix), with immediate effect.
Ghosh, who has been serving as the Principal Secretary in the Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Fisheries Department, will now continue in the same department as Special Chief Secretary.
Ghosh’s career sports several key roles and significant contributions to the infrastructure sector, sports and industrial development.
During the early stages of his service, he served in the districts of Warangal, Vizianagaram, West Godavari and Karimnagar. Between 2000 and 2004, he was the Special Officer for the National Games, 2002, and the first Afro-Asian Games, 2003, where he successfully managed mega infrastructure projects, including the Gachibowli Sports Complex and seven stadiums in Hyderabad.
His leadership in organizing these events was widely appreciated, showcasing Hyderabad as a hub for international sporting events. Between 2004 and 2011, Ghosh held posts in the Tourism, Finance and Sports Departments, where he supervised events like the Asian Development Bank AGM in 2005 and the Military World Games in 2007.
He also played a key role in the development of the Military World Games Village, boosting Hyderabad’s international reputation.
His tenure in the Industries and Commerce Department from 2011 to 2016 in the United Andhra Pradesh as well as in Telangana earned him recognition for managing sectors like Mining, MSMEs, Handlooms and Textiles.
During this period, he was also the Managing Director of the AP State Finance Corporation (Telangana). From 2017 until his recent promotion, Ghosh was the Secretary/Principal Secretary of the Youth Services Department.
He spearheaded initiatives in skill development and employment promotion, serving as the Chairman of both the Telangana Society for Training and Employment Promotion (TSTEP) and SETWIN.
An avid sports enthusiast, Ghosh represented India in international shuttle badminton tournaments and served as the first President of the Telangana Athletics Association from 2014 to 2018.
Ghosh’s expertise spans the fields of IT, industries, commerce, sports, tourism and skill development. With this promotion, Ghosh is expected to continue his work in the state, particularly in areas critical to Telangana’s economic and social growth.
