A group of staff nurses from Government General Hospital Siddipet on Tuesday thronged Praja Bhavan demanding that they be reinstated after they were arbitrarily sacked by the college administration on February 17.
The worried nurses submitted a representation to the authorities at the Praja Bhavan during Praja Vani . Following the discussion with the government authorities, a staff nurse who did not wish to be named narrated her ordeal. “The Superintendent of the hospital did not specify the reason for sacking us. All of us were appointed as staff nurses in 2020 during COVID Pandemic and now we are rendered helpless.”
Another nurse said, “We understand that this is a non-permanent job however it isn’t right to just send a message out of the blue and hamper our livelihood.
Most of us got our family members to stay with us in Siddipet since we felt secured due to a government job, what are we supposed to do now?”
A few other nurses shared the message that was sent to them by the Government Medical College,
Expressing dismay over the sacking, a staff nurse identified herself as Pratibha said, “The authorities here at Praja Bhavan have only said that they will provide an explanation for the termination in the near future.
We are only asking to be reinstated as staff nurses and haven’t demanded permanency.” A group of nurses also planned to go to the Telangana Secretariat to raise the issue.
