In a significant development, representatives from the AP Federation of University Teachers’ Association convened a crucial meeting with Advisor to the AP Government (Public Affairs), Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, on Monday. The meeting was marked by discussions regarding the plight of nearly 1,860 university staff members who have served for over 15 years while receiving meagre wages. These dedicated employees are spread across universities throughout the State.

The delegation urged Sajjala to address their concerns, with a particular emphasis on job security and improved remuneration, especially for those holding PhDs and higher academic qualifications.

The representatives pointed out that since Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed office, a slew of initiatives has been set in motion to extend benefits to contract and outsourcing employees. Consequently, they urged Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy to extend similar support to their cause.

Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy underscored the injustices these employees endured during the previous administration led by Chandrababu Naidu and affirmed that corrective measures had already been set in motion. Long-standing issues, including pending promotions in critical departments such as Revenue, Education, and Panchayat Raj, have been successfully resolved.

Sajjala conveyed the Chief Minister’s firm commitment to addressing employee concerns and vowed to rectify any past injustices. He made it clear that he would promptly bring this matter to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s attention for decisive action.

President of the AP Federation of University Teachers Association, Kode Arjun, generalsSecretary Mallibaskar, organising secretary Harish, Shanti, and other delegates, held a high-level meeting with Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy at his Tadepalli camp office.

They formally submitted a comprehensive representation outlining the grave concerns and aspirations of the university employees.
