Vijayawada: The Mangalagiri Rural police have issued notice to YSRCP leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy to appear for questioning at 10.30 am on Thursday, in connection with the attack on the TDP central office. The attack took place in October, 2021, when YSRCP was in power. The police identified Sajjala’s involvement in the case, and issued lookout notices in September to ensure that he does not leave the country.
YSRCP leaders Lella Appireddy, Devineni Avinash, Jogi Ramesh, and Talasila Raghuram were also served notices and have already been to the police station multiple times for questioning.
The Andhra Pradesh government has transferred the investigation into the attacks on the TDP central office and the residence of Chandrababu Naidu to the Crime Investigation Department (CID). The cases, which were previously being investigated by the Mangalagiri and Tadepalli police stations, will be handed over to the CID by the Mangalagiri Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The decision was made to expedite the investigation, as the progress made by the civil police was deemed to be slow.
Former Bapatla MP Nandigam Suresh was arrested and sent to jail in connection with the attack, but was later released on bail. The police plan to interrogate several other leaders as well.
