The Telangana Drug Control Administration (DCA) and Prohibition & Excise department conducted a joint operation in Hyderabad. They discovered illegal sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
During inspections at Bakoban Hospital, Chandrayangutta, and BVK Reddy Hospital, Warasiguda, large amounts of drugs like Fentanyl, Ketamine and Midazolam injections were seized.
The raids conducted on Thursday and Friday followed credible information regarding illegal drug activities. Officials found that the drugs were stocked and sold without the required NDPS licence. At Bakoban Hospital, 47 ampoules of Fentanyl were seized from the owner, Abdul Rahman. At BVK Reddy Hospital, officials seized 21 ampoules of Fentanyl, 9 vials of Ketamine and 2 vials of Midazolam from T Naresh Kumar.
The DCA officials stated that cases have been registered under the NDPS Act at Charminar and Musheerabad Prohibition & Excise stations and further legal action will follow. The DCA advised that hospitals must hold proper NDPS licences to handle such substances, as unlicenced possession and sale pose a risk of misuse and threaten public health.
