Salman Khan’s Sikandar faces box office disaster, Rashmika’s ‘lucky mascot’ fails

Must read

Salman Khan’s latest film Sikandar, which hit theatres on March 30, has opened to a disappointing response. Despite a star-studded cast featuring Salman, Kajal Aggarwal and Rashmika Mandanna, the film failed to generate buzz or attract audiences. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film struggled to make an impact at the box office.
Given Salman Khan’s massive fan base, expectations were high, but Sikandar turned out to be a major letdown. The film saw minimal footfall even on its opening Sunday, a public holiday and the situation remained the same on Monday despite the Ramzan festival holiday. Critics slammed the movie for its weak storyline and lackluster direction, which further dented its prospects.
The film’s promotional campaign also failed to create excitement. As a result, Sikandar has only managed to collect around Rs 25 crore, on its opening day, a figure considered disastrous for a Salman Khan starrer.
Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna, who had been on a streak of back-to-back hits, couldn’t continue her success with this film. Dubbed a ‘lucky mascot’ for her previous projects, her presence failed to make a difference this time. Alongside Rashmika, South Indian stars Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj and Kishore also played key roles in the film.
