Sand can be booked online from now onwards: DC

District Collector K Vetri Selvi announced that people could book online sand from now onwards.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the Collector said that the AP Sand Management System portal has been specially designed by the state government for the convenience of people to get free sand.
Collector Vetri Selvi said that the sand would be provided to the public completely free of cost, adding that only transportation, handling and nominal loading charges will have to be paid.
According to the orders issued by the State Government, the charges related to the transportation of sand have been fixed, she stated. Those who need sand should first log in AP Sand Management System portals.
“After logging into the www.sand.ap.gov.in portal, the details of the sand reach available to the users, the details of how much sand is required and after placing their order, the vehicle will be allocated to the users automatically,” she explained.
Collector Vetri Selvi said: “Previously this was done at the sand reaches of Kukunoor but from Friday onwards, people can book and get sand from their homes or the nearest secretariat. In addition to this, the Eluru district administration has given full training to the relevant staff. Motorists transporting sand should first register their vehicle in the online portal.”
So far 141 sand transporters have been registered in the district; she disclosed adding that at present 3 sand reaches are available in the district. Sand reserves of up to 29,000 metric tons are still available at Ibrahim pet sand reaching Kukkunur mandal and these reserves are expected to be sufficient for 29 days. If there are any problems in the supply of sand, consumers can call the toll-free number 1800 425 6025 or 08812 – 234014.
“On working days, orders will be allowed only from 12 noon to 5 pm on the sand portal. In the same way, sand can be ordered at the village and ward secretariats and sand booking orders will be taken from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm. Only online payments are accepted,” the Collector made it clear.
