The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists on the directions of MLA Gottipati Ravi Kumar organised ‘Isuka Satyagraham’ in protest against the sand extractions from the riverbeds and streams by the sand mafia in a big way.
In response to the call given by TDP chief and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP activists under the guidance of MLA Gottipati Ravi Kumar organized ‘Sand Satyagrham’ at Modepalli village on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, TDP leaders said that the new sand policy introduced by the Jagan Mohan Reddy headed government has become a major financial resource to the YSRCP leaders. “Illegal sand extraction is being carried out undoubtedly and indiscriminately from rivers and streams disregarding the impending danger of natural calamity. The YSRCP leaders have earned crores of rupees by selling sand,” they lashed out.
The YSRCP leaders have control of all sand reaches across the state and they are extracting sand unlimitedly. The indiscriminate sand mining from the rivers and streams would lead to natural catastrophes in the future, they feared.
During the TDP regime sand extraction was used to improve the financial conditions of women and also the financial conditions of local bodies, he claimed. The DWACRA women also got the benefit of sand during the TDP regime, the TDP leaders stated, adding that the TDP government introduced a new sand policy on March 2, 2016, providing sand free of cost.
