The Union government has appointed Sandeep Mathur as the General Manager of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) Zone, based in Visakhapatnam. Mathur, who was Principal Executive Director (Signal Modernisation), assumes charge at a crucial time as the zone nears operational status.
Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat welcomed the move, calling it a major step towards realising a long-pending demand. He confirmed steady progress on integrating the Waltair Division.
Railway stakeholders and civic bodies praised the appointment, expressing hope that it would speed up infrastructure works and help finalise the Gazette Notification for the full-fledged functioning of the zone.
